The SIS planning committee is an opportunity to be a part of an AA-approved event that's here to support our AA community in Wilmington, create more opportunities for fellowship and service in our area, and help serve and be there for the newcomer. ​

SIS Planning Committee Positions

For SIS 2025, these are the positions that have been filled so far:

 

Nyla C. - General Chair & Treasurer 

Contact at: springintosobrietyilm@gmail.com

(The general chair is a person with four or more years of sobriety and has event planning experience for 100 or more attendees, and who oversees the entire day's event; keeps informed on the progress of all the arrangements; calls planning committee meetings when needed.​​

(The treasurer is a person with four or more years of sobriety and some solid business experience (as per GSO's suggestions in the guidelines for  Conferences, Conventions, and Roundups)  and is responsible for all money contributions received and deposited into the operating account, paying all and any bills associated with the cost of the event; and prepares the treasure's report for each year's event made available on the event site. SIS is registered as an SS4 entity as suggested by GSO's Finance Guidelines).

Terry - Co-chair to General Chair 

Co-chair to General Chair help the General Chair with any details at the event such as checking with volunteers at the event and giving any directions needed to help with the event, helping deliver flyers before the event to intergroup to distribute to our district 4 groups, and sometimes communicates with other co-chairs if needed on any details before and during the event. Helps look after the contributions given and assists the General Chair with the 50/50 raffle money taken and giving of tickets. 

 

Lori V.I. - Co-chair (Food Management)

(assisted by 2-3 volunteers to run the food table, and 1 volunteer to run the coffee table. Responsible for getting all the food for the event and delegating responsibilities to volunteers for the preparation and serving of the food table for the day's event )

Stacy - Co-chair (Gratitude Circle Meeting)

(hosting/chairing the AA Gratitude Circle meeting, getting a volunteer to give out the chips)

​

Charlene - Co-chair (Recovery Walk Table)

(set-up and management of the in-celebration list and in-memory list)

​

Charlene and Nyla - Speakers Co-chair

(responsible for getting speakers for the event)

​

Chris - CoffeeTable Co-chair

(Responsible for setting up the coffee table, preparing the coffee, and maintaining all coffee carafes, cream containers, and sweetener containers are kept full, keeping the area clean and wiped down). 

​

Jim V. - Recovery Music and Sound Co-chair

(responsible for booking recovery musicians and coordinating the sound system and sound engineering)

 

Virginia S. - ​Kids Table Co-chair

(responsible for storing and coordinating any games, coloring books, and face painting for the kid's table including putting the table cover on the kids' table and cleaning up that area).

​

Arlene C. - Games Management Co-chair

(responsible for organizing all the games being donated for the year and storing any games that are the property of SIS)

​

Marty - Clean Up Co-chair 

(responsible for getting volunteers for the clean up crew for general trash in the rented area, as well as helping with the food and coffee clean up to help throw out any trash)

​Set-Up Co-chair

(responsible for getting volunteers to help set up for the event as far as putting up extra tables, putting table covers on the tables, and putting up any information yard signs/banners)
